Hi there. I have been collecting Louis Vuitton bags for nearly 6 years now. Louis Vuitton makes their bags in the U.S.A, France, Spain and on very very rare occasion, Italy. The majority of their bags are made in either U.S.A or France though. Vuitton has factories around the world and one being righ here in the U.S. The more limited edition and special bags such as the eye love you series, cherry blossoms and miroir's are not made here. These are being manufactured in France and Spain. Made in Spain bags will have a date code that usually begins with CA.

I would first look for date code NOT SERIAL NUMBER. Many people call it a serial number when in fact it is called Date Code. Now, as for the code it should begin with 2 letters followed by 4 numbers. The Model number of the bag is NOT a date code and is NEVER stamped inside the bag.

Secondly....Authentic Vuittons should NEVER EVER have a tag hanging off the bag, a green envelope, white paper tags with a model number and certainly not certificate of authenticity. Vuitton does not do this.

Third would be lining. There are many different linings from Alcantara (raspberry, charcoal or beige colored). Brown cotton coated canvas lining, leather lined etc... The interior should be fine and soft. Not hard beige uneven suede like materials.

Forth would have to be stamping and if it matched the date code. Example made in U.S.A have certain date codes (example: date code will begin with SD). made in France have others as well as made in Spain and made in Italy (mind you, only very very few are made in Italy).

I hope this helps. If you should EVER need help in the future with buying a Vuitton bag, please email me at anytime and it would be a pleasure to help you out.

Take care :o)

If it is made in the USA, then it is fake. Real Louis Vuitton bags are made in Italy. The ones made here do not come with a seal of authenticity. Your best bet is to buy one from the designer himself, that way you have a lifetime guarantee on anything you buy. I paid $1000 bucks for a carry-on bag that was destroyed via my flight. It took them 2 months but they sent me a brand new bag.You may break yourself and pay anywhere from $500 to 10,000 for a real bag, but you can get it replaced at not cost as long as you are covered under the warranty.

With the prices of handbags increasing exponentially on a yearly basis, the counterfeit market has upped their game, cranking out replica designer handbags at too-good-to-be-true prices. If you are a handbag lover, you already know that the counterfeit handbag market supports some pretty shady dealings, from human trafficking to drugs and beyond.
