yes there is but I wouldn't suggest trying it because you can destroy your nano. and it's not illegal it will just make any warranty or anything like that void if you try it.
try searching around the internet i know ive seen a website where someone messed with their nano enough so that it could play videos. but it was totally messed up and ended up costing him more than just buying an ipod video.

Look at the packaging...
An MP3 player plays music. An MP5 player plays music and videos. Which one is your nano?
Whether the videos are legal or not depends on how you got them. This has nothing to do with the nano.

There is an illegal way, but I won't link you to it, since my friend did download the patch program and try it and completely screwed up her Christmas present. Just enjoy the music.

I have heard of iPod Linux that allows almost any iPod to play videos, even the older ones, but I do not recommend using it because once you put it on your iPod, the Apple warranty goes void
