so many things could be wrong, virus, spyware, 2 programs that are trying to work at the same time but not compatible, too many files and not enough space, etc.

what you can do is make sure you have virus/firewall protection on and updated, get a spyware scanning and disinfecting program such as spybot search and destroy, disk clean, defrag, and get a cleaner to get rid of junk old files such as crap cleaner, it's free.

NEVER!!!!EVER!!! Disconnect your computer directly from the wall. This makes it even slower. OK what you have to do is try and scan your computer for viruses, ad-ware, and spy-ware. OK what is ad ware and spy-ware? These are small parasites (That's what i like to call them) that get into your computer while ur surfing the net. And obviously you know what a virus is. Ok what you have to do is go to a computer store and buy an ANTI - SPYWARE program. An example of this program would be "Spyware Doctor 8.0". Also if you dont have Virus Blocker you should get one. Buy these and remember to keep them updated, there are always new viruses. Dont worry about the high costs. ITS BETTER THAN HAVING TO BUY A NEW COMPUTER. Oh and by the way in the mean time while your waiting to buy the program, press CTRL ALT DELETE and clik on the program that sez NOT RESPONDING and press END NOW button.

If your computer is freezing a lot you could have a virus. Or if you installed any new programs recently they could be screwy and messing up your computer. Scan your computer for viruses if nothing is detected do a system restore it removes changes made from your computer to a certain date but doesn't delete any of your documents. To do this go to accessories in the start menu and click system restore. Then select a date and your computer will reboot. System Restore is only in Windows 2000 and XP though.
