Some do. Good rock is good rock. If you really want to screw with your kids' minds, learn as much as you can about new music and new bands, get to where you can recognize Billy Talent, Yellowcard, 3 Doors Down or Bayside. Be able to discuss the differences and pros and cons of groups like Scum of the Earth and Bloodhound Gang. Comparing the lead singer, Jimmy Pop of Bloodhound Gang to Eric Burdon in clothing choices 40 years later is always good for a few stammering teens. Play some Blue Cheer for your kids, some Fugs, MC5 or NRBQ. Music is one way to keep communications open with your kids.

No it's called "the rebellion of youth" not 100% but many kids today have found Hip-Hop & Rap to be their thing! Like the Led Zep crowd's parents listened to Sinatra!

Yes!! My kids (ages 21 & 26) still listen to J. Geils, Aerosmith, Eagles, and Boston... and.... they actually know all the lyrics... I'm not sure if this is a tribute to the bands, or a tribute to their dad, who loves this music, but I'm certainly impressed.
I still listen to and know the words to some Frank Sinatra and Elvis tunes (My parents favorite stuff).. excellent!!! Life does go on....

My father grew me up on music he listened to when he was young, like the Everly Brothers, Elvis, The Beatles, Sam Cooke, James Brown, The Who and all those doo-wop groups. I still listen to them, but I can only speak for myself.
