In Tennessee applicants that apply for a job as a police officer are not required to submit to a drug test before being hired and any other job it is a requirment . Why is this any different ? There is a problem in this state with corruption with in the law inforcement community, local , city ,county and state police forces. The public is now being made aware of officers that were hired and had criminal back grounds and or are convicted felons after these so called offercers who are paid to protect us get in trouble. What's it going to take to make the public aware that they allso have police officers who have drug problems and judges who are still sitting on the bench comitting felonies far worse than what they send people to jail for every day . Innocent people are put behind bars and are ordered to pay fines that are so unreasonable there's no way they can support a familly and complete the ordered payment .If you dare complain or file a complaint " you'll be sorry "! What can I do

Are u kidding. Im a peace officer in the state of Texas, worked with two law enforcement agencies and never got tested for narcotics. I guess it depends on the department, how big, how corrupt, and the number of man power?

Innocent people put behind bars ( yeah right, maybe 1 out of 10, 000)? where was their attorney and did they not have a jury trial? The states have set most part of a fine for designated state uses....not a judge. so you can't blame a judge for "unreasonable" fines. A habitual offender is often given the maximum sentence or fine though for a charge.
Most trouble is caused by the same 75% of the population over and over again....see them in court all time with new charges or they fail to make their payments on previous fines.
What can you do? I suggest an attorney, clean up your act and get a new attitude.

Most officers in TN are wonderful loyal people.

And actually there is no state requirement in any state that I know of,

The only rules that regulate police in any state are the POST certification requirements.

It is the hiring authority ( department) that sets up specific physcial and the rules on drug testing.

Police in TN under go a very detailed background check.
If and when some people are hired anyway due to family or other connection, it is wrong, but it happens everywhere at times.

I will assume you got ticket and are unhappy about it
