Elizabeth II's full name is Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor. She declared in 1960 that she and her four children would have the name Windsor. Otherwise, except for those who are styled HRH and are princes and princesses Elizabeth declared that the family name would be Mountbatten-Windsor.

Xerxes is wrong - it was never Battenberg, as this name was Anglicized before she was even born. She was Mountbatten from her marriage in 1947 until 1952, but after becoming Queen she reverted to her maiden name of Windsor.

Technically its not Windsor either - that was the name chosen around the time of world war 1 because the real name was too german sounding.

She should really be Saxe-coburg-gotha, unless she wants to use her mothers name then its Bowes-Lyon.
When she got married she became Battenberg - but that name is was also too german sounding so it got changed to mountbatten.

Still doesnt hide the fact that she is GERMAN and Scottish.
