I have found that if I take couple of ibuprofen as directed starting about two days before my period is due, and then as directed during my period, that it helps immensely.

The other thing that helps is rubbing my lower back, on each side for about a minute, right above the pelvis around where the kidneys are. It almost always relieves cramps for me immediately!

If you have to go on a special pain medication for your cramps then it sounds like they may be so bad that simple at home remedies will not help. This won't help you this time around but it may help to alleviate pain in the future in the event that you can't get to your doctor for medication before then. Eat edamame or drink soy milk on a regular basis. The proteins in the soy will help ease the pain of the cramps. Worked for me but then again, I don't think that my cramps were ever as bad as it sounds like yours are. Good luck!

before: your period you can take Calcium Citrate 1000 mg a day to help minimize the cramps it takes a few months to take full effect
but it works .
During : try a heating pad at home & if you have to go out try the mensstral heat patches they last 8 hours. they also help.
It may not take them away completely but it definatly helps alot !

Eat bananas.

Do Aerobics

I've heard sex is helpful, too, I've only tried this once and it hurt... but I know other people who swear by it... do it in the shower...

Also, just taking a hot shower will work wonders.

Also, Midol is useless! Read what's in it! It's just Tylenol and a diuretic!!! Some of them have caffine... but that's it!! You're better off just taking some Aleeve.

don't drink caffeine.
exercise
drink and eat lots of calcium
have an orgasm
take midol BEFORE you get cramps
swimming
a warm bath
a back massage

these can all help

if they don't : consider going on the pill
it will regulate your period and alleviate cramps
