If you had a old hand gun from the 1800 and you had somne hold it for you until you could find a safe place for it and this person went and sold it for$30.My kids grandfather gave my son this when he died and i was moving and had no safe place for it so my father inlaw who is not my kids grandfather took it to his house and said he would put it away in a safe place, well i just found out last night he sold it about 7 months ago,his reason was he didnt want his real grandson to find it,now i cant blame a guy for keeping him safe, but you cant use this gun and he has about 5 of his own hunting guns all over the house. He didnt even ask or better yet even give me the $30 for what he got,now i also have 2 other guns, not hand guns over there and when my hubby asked his dad if he had them his father said u gave them to me.No we did not. These belong to my son given by his real grandfather.I guess i needed to vent

totally pissed, but you need to let your husband hadle it. if he still has them, he should have no problem giving them to you. Your husband needs to stand up to him and get back what is his.

That is just WRONG! How can someone live with himself knowing he did that?! I wouldn't even believe him that he only got $30 for it. If it was an antique it could have been worth thousands. What a total loser and sorry excuse for a human to sell items given him for safekeeping. Especially items of such a sentimental nature. Does this man have a heart in his chest or a conscious? If he had truly been concerned about his grandson finding them and harming himself he should have refused to take the gun in the first place. He should have told you he was afraid it would be too dangerous. I'm so sorry for you. That's something you can never replace. I don't blame you for venting. I would have to too.

I would be extremely pissed off! For starters a hand gun from the 1800's is worth a heck of a lot more than $30.00! He probably got $1,000.00 or more for it but that is not the point. The point is it was not his gun to sell. If he had a problem with it being in his house he should have never said he would hang on to it for you. I would never speak to the jerk again!

Is this going to cause a divorce? Just asking that's the category your in.lol. But I asked my husband who knows about guns and he said that it was worth more than 30 dollars just because of the age. He is probably lying about that too. My husband said to tell your husband that it is his dad he needs to go and get the other two guns period. And as far as the one he sold he needs to tell you who he sold it to then you can try to get it back. But I bet he will not want to give that info. because he lied about what he got. Never trust this man again. And I wish that you would of put in here just what your husband thinks of his own father doing this to you.

I would be very upset and in fact,I would call the law on him. First of all,it would be considered a stolen gun due to it NOT being his and you can prove it. Secondly,he now has stolen two more guns from you and you can prove that too. Also he has sold the stolen hand gun and the person who has it in their possession could also be held responsible for being in possession of stolen property so the old guy isn't going to win this one.

I would be so upset that my father n law wouldn't be seeing his little daughter in law again. That being overbearing and just hard down not giving a damn what you think. Those kind on in laws are the type to stay far away from, if my husband insisted I had to be friendly with them , then I would insist my husband sign the divorce papers. I wouldn't live in a mess like that ,. no way.

I think I would go to a gun dealer and see what the value of the gun would be. If it was a lot more than $30 dollars, I would demand payment. If I was not paid, I would take him to court. He has cheated you out of something valuable and I wouldn't just let it go unless you need to keep in his good faith.

Totally uncool & you should take him to small claims court!
The reason he sold it was because he wanted money!
This is awful, taking your son's inheritance!
I remember my dad selling a gold handled 6-shooter he got from a sherriff back in the 30's or 40's.It upset me very badly, even though I have grown to distrust guns.(I was raised on farms & know how to shoot!)
Tis was a peice of history in our family. He kept it well locked up.
No one has an excuse if they don't lock up their guns well. You keep it in a steel box & keep the key with you!

Dude, you got hosed.
If he hunts and owns guns, he knows full well that an 1800 handgun went for more like $ 3000.00. even in non working condition.
Looks like you need to stay away from that guy.

Ok ...you really are upset... calm down, and if you can or even want to... retype the question. I can see why you would be torqued, as I would be too, but you aren't being clear. Vent away if you need to! If you want an answer mellow a bit before you ask the question.

Been there and done that! My ex traded my 9mm for some cheap piece of crap! The thing wasn't even registered in my name, but my brothers! They say that possession is 9/10ths of the law, but that really SUCKS THE BIG ONE!!! You'd better get everything back from this man!
