I tried walking in with business cards and brochures and giving them to potential clients, but have had zero calls. Should I call or go and ask just ask them if I can work for them as if I were to be employed by them? Help!!

You have to get to the person who can make a decision. If you only walk in and hand out a business card to a receptionist, then your card or brochure could go in the trash when you leave. I would walk in, find the decision maker and ask if they are happy with their present cleaning service. If they are, then you leave a business card and ask them to call if they become dissatisfied. If they are not happy with their present service you may have an opportunity. You could also start sending out brochures in the mail. You can reach a lot of potential customers for a small amount of money. You could make a goal of sending so many brochures every day or week until you get enough customers. It takes time to build a business.

Go out and sell yourself! Every business has someone who cleans for them. You can also start by buying into a franchise that would generate leads for you. It is a bit more expensive. Try placing an ad in the newspaper or start a web page. Post signs near a busy shopping center. Write a script and then call local businesses promoting your introductory special. Keep business cards with you always. Good luck

I say a great deal that beats other in the comminuty. You could try flyers! Put them up everywhere. The local newspaper could be the answer. I would not be employed by them.

Credibility is what you need.

How long have you done this service?

Are you licensed and bonded?

Have you offered your cleaning service to non- profits?

Do you have references?
