I'm going to drink sparkling grape juice. It's a great alternative to champagne or wine etc. I am due in July and am not even thinking about drinking. I know what is going to be one of my greatest joys and drinking is not one of them. But, I can understand sometimes it's not the easiest thing for some. I know you will do what is right for your child though. congrats and happy new years a little in advance.

*LOL* No, it is not an Australia thing. But I answered before you added other statements. All you said was need a solution and you asked any tips on how to get through the night without drinking. It was how the question was asked that I answered your question.

I understand how you feel I am in the same situation, I am due in March. If you are staying in and having a party at home be the one in charge of collecting everyones keys as they enter and only returning them if they are sober when they are ready to leave. Have some games around to play because in my experience not everyone will get drunk especially since they know you cannot drink. If you are headed out be he Designated Driver some bars will even give you your drinks free, they did when I was the DD for a friends bachelorette party. Most of all just have fun and think how stupid everyone else looks and how great you will feel in the morning.

I know it sucks being pregnant and not being able to drink and smoke. Just focus on other fun things. Like kissing at midnight. By virgin drinks. They look the same, but without the alcohol. I know you wouldn't drink. Be careful, and try to have fun. I was pregnant last new years and went through the same thing. Just remember, you always have next year. All you'll need then is a babysitter. Good luck and have fun!

Holy smokes. You're not saying you can't resist drinking are you? Or are you embarrassed to be seen not drinking alcohol? You'd be frowned upon if you DID drink. Drink water or non-alcoholic champagne.

You're just starting out as a mommy. This is just the beginning of giving things up for your child. This is an easy one. Don't worry though. In a very short time, you'll love that little one so much you'll give up anything without a second thought and you won't mind a bit. Children are so worth it.

Have fun. Being the sober one can be quite amusing.

Good luck, Mommy

Why not keep the camera in hand and take the black mail pictures! If everyone else is going to be too drunk for good conversation, that means that they may be doing some funny stuff. Get your camera, maybe extra film or an extra memory card, and keep and you'll be the one to tell, and show, them how stupid they were.
Good for you for not thinking of drinking.
Happy New Year!

just think about how a drink could harm your baby. it's NOT WORTH IT!
have sparkling water with a lemon or lime in a wine glass. it got me through the holidays just fine.
or just don't go out. stay in and journal how much you love being pregnant and how excited you are to have your baby! enjoy being pregnant because it goes by so quickly!
hang in there:) i know it can be frustrating. just think about the AMAZING thing that you are doing. you are growing another human being. it's hard work.
maybe spend the night pampering yourself. give yourself a mani-pedi, take a bath and curl up with a good book or magazine.
think BIG picture. I know when i was pregnant and it was New Year's Eve, I stayed home and actually enjoyed the quiet and rest!
enjoy the quiet while you can because things are going to be very NOISY once your baby arrives.
Congratulations!!! and Happy New Year!

Watch everyone else get drunk and be glad it's not you barfing in the yard outside.

Oh,...and your baby is always a good incentive on not drinking. Would you give a beer or a shot of whiskey to a newborn? No? Well, it's the same thing if you drink anything now, so think of that and you will be fine. Anyone who tries to get you to drink while pregnant is an a.sshole anyway.

Do you have to go out? If not rent a good movie, read What to Expect When You Are Expecting... If you must go out, I always enjoyed watching all the drunk people around me. Sort of like sitting down at a coffee shop and people watching, but better because many of the people are making fools of themselves...

Have a good night.

Grab some sparkling cider or grape juice and pretend to drink with them :). I had sprite for new years last year cause it bubbled and I was preggo too..lol

I would try to avoid parties where there will be a bunch of drunk people cause drunk people are soooo annoying when you are the only sober one :). Maybe try to convince your husband/partner to not drink either so you ahve someone sober to hang out with :)
