This is driving me crazy. As a teenager, we had a book at home (hardcover) that told a fictionalized story of humans living amongst lilliputans in their gardens, I think. At one point the lilliputans go against the humans and actually go after them and poking their ankles with homemade spears. I remember the drawings vividly in the book.
Does anyone have any idea where I could do a search for a book, simply based on description??
Does anyone born in the sixties ever seen or heard of this book??

Ok, I found it. It isn't Gullivers Travels. I thought it was, but it wasn't. It's:

T.H. White's "Mistress Masham's Repose"

This was one of the first books I read when I was about 5, yes I learned at a very young age. One of my older sister's brought it home from the Library for me and I lost it over the years after moving so much.
I recommend it to young readers everywhere!
Thanks Folks!

Mistress Masham's Repose by T. H. White is, indeed, one of the fine children's fantasies involving little people. I recommend it heartily, but regrettably the reading level proves quite a challenge for most youngsters today. The Lilliputians in the book, by the way, had been brought over by Gulliver (or perhaps one of his rescuers, as I remember), but had made their escape to an island on a British estate, where they were discovered by a young girl. The child, too, is being neglected or harshly treated by the executors of the estate. So together they became allies for reform! (Maybe not quite as good, certainly not as popular as T. H. White's Sword in the Stone for children, but a good one anyway.)

For children (and their adults) who enjoy this book about "little people," another that I would definitely recommend is The Borrowers by Mary Norton, followed in a series by The Borrowers Afield: Borrowers Afloat; Borrowers Aloft; Borrowers Avenged. Wonderful, wonderful series!

Not sure what age group we're aiming for here... So I may be a little bit off the mark. Where there's a series, I've only listed the first book, but most already have several follow-ups published. Alyson Noel – Evermore (The Immortals series, book1) 17 year old Ever survived the car crash that killed her family, plagued not only by survivor guilt, but also by a new ability to hear the thoughts of all around her. Rachel Vincent – Stray (Werecats series, book 1) A brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back... for my own protection. Yeah, right. But I'm no meek kitty. I'll take on whatever and whoever. Ronda Thompson – Confessions of a werewolf supermodel Supermodel Lou Kinipski has a problem. Oh, on the surface it looks like she has it all- beauty, a great career, and excellent taste in clothing. But Lou has a secret… Jenny Downham -- Before I die Tessa has just months to live. Fighting back against hospital visits, endless tests, drugs with excruciating side-effects, Tessa compiles a list. It’s her To Do Before I Die list Simone Elkeles -- Perfect Chemistry When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created “perfect” life is about to unravel before her eyes. She’s forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town… Carrie Asai - Samurai Girl, The book of the Sword (Samurai Girl series, book1) When I was six months old, I dropped from the sky -- the lone survivor of a deadly Japanese plane crash. The newspapers called me Heaven. For nineteen years, I thought I was lucky. Now I'm being hunted. I must fight back, or die.

If you cant get into the book (the language is a bit old) - try the movie - starring Ted Danson (from Cheers). Should be on video somewhere.

I'd try the book category of the IMDB boards (http://us.imdb.com/board/bd0000052/threads/) to see if anyone can help you if you don't get an answer here.
