It would still go to the Vice President Elect

The vice president elect is sworn in before the president elect, so if the president elect died the brand-new vice president would get a very rapid promotion.

Next in line is the Speaker of the House, followed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate.

Now for something interesting: The rest of the successors are Presidential appointees (cabinet members). The tradition is for the old ones to resign effective at noon on 20 January. This makes for a VERY short succession list.

At Bush's 2001 inauguration, Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen was asked to stay on for a few more hours, off-site. This preserved the line of succession if something happened. Cohen was a Republican; which probably contributed to his selection as the designated survivor.
