If this freezer is not a 'frost free' model, you will get frost buildup. However, making it easier to remove is not hard. Once the freezer is defrosted and cleaned, do the following:

Before you turn the freezer on again, lightly spray PAM (or similar) inside. wipe with a paper towel to make a thin coating on all inner surfaces. When it's time to defrost again, a small amount of time is spent, since much of the buildup will slide off easily after a very short warming time.

I learned this trick from my grandmother (who used Crisco shortening, 'cause PAM didn't exist then).

no. frost free freezers use a special heater unit to remove moisture from the freezer compartment and allow it to go out the drain in the back. the amount of water thus removed is small when it does it, but it becomes significant over a long period of time.
