Hi, I have a few dark, thick, coarse hairs around my nipples and around my belly button...I noticed them when I was about 22...what could the cause be for both...are they coincidence or related...??? By the way, I tweeze the nipple hairs, but the belly button ones hurt a little, so I cut them even though I know I shouldn't do it that way.

The suddenly appearing and often embarassing hairs that are appearing are to to a fluctuation in hormones. Normal as we age and near menopause~~~I have one that will grow as long as I let it (thank goodness I have an understanding husband!! ALWAYS pluck, if you shave you will remove the finer hairs surrounding the annoying one and will cause thicker coarser hair to grow over a larger area.

Everybody has a slight amount of hair.
Don't shave anything in your nipple area. For God's sake. :]
Grit your teeth and tweeze the belly ones too, I say.

Just natural hair, like on your head. Don't worry, bellybuttons can be sore often, it's common. Try cutting them instead.

Try waxing, if you like the effect, go for a full brazilian wax.
