Simple...the white people wanted the land. So they took most of the land and put the remaining Indians on reservations. I think it was wrong. I don't think the Native Americans were...pleased...I know I wouldn't be if I were them! Life probably isn't good there because they are stuck in one area.

The government was feeling guilty for stealing all of thier land rights and killing most of them.
the indians did not like it at all, since the US really had no right to take the land they did from the indians in the first place.
Next most of the reservations they gave were taken away latter.

It's in all the history books- white men built reservations so they could steal the land from the Indians. It wasn't congress, it was the railroad.

In the language of the politician it would be, "relocation of our Indian Brothers for their own well being".
In language of the harsh truth it would be, "Lets move those Dumb Savage ******* to some place that is worthless, so we can take their land and keep a close eye on them. What???? You mean there is gold in them thar hills? Move those bastards again".
Sorry I just call it the way I see it. The truth is not always nice.

For the same reason that people propose making a "Palestinian homeland" in Israel.
You've got 2 groups of people who cannot live with one another, who are at constant war. Either the stronger group must kill off the weaker group, or move them to a place where they won't create trouble.
Obviously, it would've been nice to merge the white European culture with the native cultures, but the native cultures wouldn't even merge with one another.

To get them off our land. Does it matter what the indians said? Go to a casino and support the NATIVE AMERICAN reservations.
