Just saw Rocky Balboa last night. Man, what a tear-jerker. I'm in my late 30s and is hard to see cultural icons from the 1980s age. I'm so glad that the Rocky series ended with this film rather than Rocky 5. I loathe Rocky 5, it was so depressing. It was nice to see that while Adrienne was dead Rocky had a life with his restaurant and personal relationships. The transformation in Paulie was wonderful. Paulie finally came to terms with his anger-management issues and became a kinder, gentler man. The friendship between Rocky and Little Marie was a nice touch. Glad it was a friendship and not a romance - that would've ruined it for me. What did you other Rocky fans think?

You know the entire Rocky series is Christ-centered. Did you know that? Stallone said this in an interview on a Christian website. Sorry I can't remember the link, try searching for it on yahoo engine if you want. It'll probably show up on the first page.

I loved it except one thing.

All though we saw references (mostly in the pre-fight highlights) of Rocky II-4, we never saw refferences to them otherwise. A couple of the memorabilia he had in his resturaunt showed Cluber and Drago, but that was all.

Also there was no reference to his physical problems of part 5.

How could he even 20 years later get in a ring when he was told clearly in 5 a good hit (and he took quite a few in 6) could kill him.

all of the references except the part where he talks of the final round and being so tired against apollo were about Rocky 1.

I felt it would have been better wit at least a few more ranged references.

I haven't seen it but my son did tonight. He thought it was so great, a lot like the first Rocky. He thought it was the best way to end the series.
