Aren't both human beings and equally deserving LIFE?

This question is lacking in intellectual honesty. Is a death in your family more important to you than a death in my family? Of course it is. If you say otherwise then you're completely lacking in honesty. For that reason Western news services are far more likely to report, and in greater detail, the circumstances surrounding the death of a Westerner than the death of Muslims in a far removed foreign country.

Every death carries importance but the importance of each death is relative to the familiarity one has to the deceased.

Of course, all the preceding doesn't take into account individual, corporate, or governmental agendas and bias. Throw those into the mix and the only importance any death has depends entirely on how it can be used to further the agendas or influence those of opposing bias.

"Muslims don't have the same respect for life as normal humans. Just look at what they do to unbelievers. Name ANY other group that beheads ppl just for having a different opinion." -Suspenders

Oh, Suspenders .... I WILL name another group that beheads people just for having a different opinion... That would be Christians. They've been doing it for a couple thousand years now, actually. Even today many "Christians" are being persecuted by other "Christians" because even amongst CHRISTIANS there aren't the exact same beliefs.

Just like not ALL Christians persecute others who don't hold their beliefs, not ALL Muslims are suicide bombers. Islam actually DOES respect human life. Quite honestly, most devout Muslims respect the lives of ALL living creatures- perhaps even more than your average American.

You see (getting to the point of the origional question), the media will tell whatever propoganda it needs in order to gain the support of the masses. If that means only talking about the minority of Muslims who are militant- so be it. If that means putting a larger stake in the lives of Americans or Germans or English, etc etc- so be it. If that means telling the world that there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq so we can invade and control the oil fields- well, so be it.

What we need, now more than ever, is to be educated. Seek out your own answers. Publicise your own opinions. Research the TRUTH. Think before speaking or acting. This is what the REAL "enemy" doesn't want from us. Use your mind to benefit humanity.

In my opinion, one western dead is NOT more important then 1000 dead muslim. Indeed, all human beings deserve equal opportunities.

In reality it is not different, dead is dead, it all is awful. Our media continues to slant it toward playing up western deaths, in the single digits and playing down muslim deaths always many more. The only thing you can do is let those news outlets know how you feel via e-mail or letter and then cease to get your information from there. If enough of us insist on this, there is a chance at getting unbiased coverage.

I believe a Westerner is NOT more important than a Muslim and both are equally deserving of life.
You and I appear to be ahead of the game on this one, and all we can do is wait for the rest of humanity to catch up. Peace be with you in the new year.

Excellent answer Phil. I am sure the Muslim news services do the exact opposite and anyone offended by this is ignorant and lacking sensitivity. Americans are concerned because, whether they support the war or not, young Americans are dying on foreign soil. Believe me, we Americans are very aware of the toll that this is taking on the Iraqi and Afghan peoples. War is the ultimate waste and to pretend one is morally or mentally superior because of some trivial, poorly thought-out pseudo-issue is simply disrespectful.

It depends on your perspective... Now consider you are a Muslim is one dead more important than a thousand western people.

Now consider you are an earthling and our planet is under attack

Will it truly take that to change our perspective?

Howdy.!!!!

Who is doing the killing?
MUSLIMS Killing fellow MUSLIMS...!!!

That would make every bomb carrying Shahaddah in actuality a dyed in the wool KAFIR..!!!

100,000 civilian Iraqis killed by MUSLIM Extremists
12,000 Iraqi Police killed by MUSLIM Extremists
8,500 Iraqi Soldiers killed by MUSLIM Extremists

An estimated 200,000 people killed by the Extremists you are trying to shield and hide with your very own words.

These figures come straight from Al Jhazeera by the way...

Because americans typically do not run into a crowded market with women and children and blow themselves up while praising allah. Muslims value life less thatn westerners.
