I'm 11 weeks pregnant and my husband is so unhappy about it, he doesnt want to be a father yet, and says its going to ruin his life. He keeps talking about how he wont be able to do certain things, how some things will have to go, and it makes me feel like im ruining his life cause i wont have an abortion. I'm scared to become a mom, but yet i feel it is the right thing to do. My doctor and everyone i talk to seem to think he will come around, but i just dont know if he will. Is there anyway i can get him to be happier about it, after all it is his baby too. I just dont want to feel terrible about it.

It sounds like he wanted to just "play" like a man by having sex; but when he actually needs to be a man he wants to be a boy. Tell him to grow up or pack his things. You don't need that kind of stress while you are pregnant. If he keeps you under this much stress while you are pregnant, you may one day not be. I wish the best for you, but as any woman will tell you, you cannot change a man, or in your case boy. Good luck sweetie, I really hope things get better for you.

When he took the wedding vows, he knew that what ever this union produced was of his responsibility. If he did not know this then he had his head in the sand. He sleeps with you every night, he should have been prepared that something like this could happen. If he doesn't get this then I doubt you could do anything to help him understand. You are maturing and he is not. He may or may not mature after the baby is born. You will have to cross that bridge when you get there. In the mean time be happy about the little on the way and enjoy all the things that being a Mom for the first time is all about. Enjoy it with out him. Maybe he will catch up.

Okay first, how old are you? Yeah, having a baby when you least expect it can be a big change in your life. So what does he want to do that he can't do as a father? and please, do not feel like you are ruining his life. This child belongs to both of you. I know that some guys make tend to be angry when their g/f or wife gets pregnant, but it took two of you to create this child and it will need both of you for support. If he thinks he is angry now, wait until you start giving more attention to your baby than you do to him. Do be afraid to be a mom. All new mothers feel a little nervous, but look to your family and friends for support. And yeah, he might actually come around and be a pretty decent father. Especially after the diaper stage goes away.

Please do not kill your precious unborn child just because the father is having a bout of selfishness. All you can do is reassure him that he will still have his "fun" times out with the guys or whatever. Like everyone else said he probly just needs time. He may be worried about lots of things. He may be worried that your sex life will go downhill, that you may not keep your self sexy. Or he may be worried that he will never get to go out with the guys. He could also be worried about the financial aspect. Whatever the case, if he doesn't come around after the baby is born..you should seek family counseling. Good luck.

I felt the same way. I thought my life was ruined. All my plans down the drain. That was 35 years ago. My daughter of 35 years is the best thing that happened to me.

What ? He was ready to have sex then face the consequences. I feel sorry for you, you don't need this stress. I hate to said it but I think you need to get away for awhile and let him think about this by himself. He needs to realize you can't force nobody to have a abortion. Ask him why he is ruin ? What's the big deal ? You should talk to his family to enforce him to accept responsibilities.

Tell him to grow up and take responsibility for the life that he helped create. If he won't help you, kick him to the curb!
