This just started. I replaced the yellow ink cartridge. Could it be as simple as getting a different yellow cartridge?

First try running the cleaning program first. If that does not work change the other colors too. If you just replaced yellow, then it's not that. I would say it's the Magenta, but check the other color too. It's better to try to do them all at once anyway so that you can keep better track of them. Good luck.

maybe its time to replace all the cartridges instead of just the one

could need a new cartridge or just a cleaning... try the cleaning before you go buy another one

try downloading the new driver from the canon site.
