"Emissions" are what something produces. Think about it: which of your choices would be an undesireable byproduct of running a car engine? Does battery acid or gasoline come out of your car when you drive it? How about drinking water? Polluting gases (like carbon dioxide/monoxide and other greenhouse gases)? The answer to the question is D.
