Benadryl is an antihistamine. That's ALL. It will be processed and excreted. Your baby will not be affected in any way. I know you are scared, because I was too! Benadryl (diphenhydramine HCl) won't hurt your baby.

My OB/GYN told me that I could take Benadryl, Sudafed and Claritin for my severe allergies. I've had to rely on the Benadryl several times now. I actually had an incident when I was 9 weeks where I suffered from some slight heat exhaustion and the ER nurses gave me Benadryl...I don't believe it'll cause any harm to the baby. It'll just make the baby tired a bit or may even have the opposite effect and make it wired up.
Even though my doc says it's safe, I do still try limiting the amount I take. Right now I have a horrible cold and I only allow myself one Sudafed a day...luckily that seems to do the trick for now. If you have questions regarding the safeness of a medication, contact your doc...they are there to answer any questions you have.
Good luck and Happy New Year!

I took benadryl as well as sudafed, fairly often when I was pregnant with my son, I had severve allergies & sinus headaches and could not get around it, but dr's warn due to the fact that it does cross over into the placenta it will cause withdrwal in newborns
But I am happy nothing is wrong with my son and he is going on 4 next month
I know I have taken it for more than 3 days in a row but I really tried not to take it if I didn't need to
if you really need to take it, but if you can try alternate method of relieveing your allergies maybe a saline spray or warm water with an asperator and warm wash clothes on your face
thank god I haven't had any allergy probs this pregnancy
good luck hope it helps

Tylenol and Benadryl are both perfectly safe to take during pregnancy. As for the odds of your being pregnant it could go either way. I would give it a couple more weeks and test to see.

Well i was in a very good university hospital in my home state and they gave me benadryl to go to sleep on. I was 33 weeks when they gave me 50mg a night for 3 nights straight so they wouldn't of gave it to me if it would have hurt anything.
Now it would be bad if you were smoking pot or doing dope but benadryl? No that isn't going to hurt anything but if you are that scared then don't take it - it is that simple

i was advised by my doctor and pharmacist that Benadryl was perfectly okay to take during my pregnancy. I actually just stopped taking it a few days ago b/c i am feeling better. I was taking benadryl allergy for common cold and congestion...it seemed to help okay just not soon enough!

I was told not to take it in the first trimester, and only take it if "really needed" later on. It can cause drowsiness and so forth, so it's also not recommended prior to delivery. It is considered "safe" during pregnancy!
