i think that she is saying that she wants to be free , like a bird, to make her own decisions. and that he wants to be what ever she wants because he loves her.
that's just my guess.

It means "we're the same"....
If you're a bird, then I'm a bird.
If you're a ghost, then i'm a ghost.
You can replace 'bird' with any object and it would still mean "we're the same" ;-)
