ready for renting. The manager just moved a young couple right next to me. The apt. next to me has only been vacant for 1 month. The other 20 apt's have been vacant for almost a year. The younger people crank up the music loud, sell dope right in fromt of their two young children. I'm so made at the manager, for not being respectful to my age. What would you do?

i meant to say, i'm so mad at management.
I never bother a soul. I'm very quiet. All these empty apartments. And they move young gang guy and his girlfriend with two young kid's next door to me.

The couple probably chose the apartment for whatever reason.
As to the loud music, in most states, you can make a complaint
to the police department if it's still blaring after 10:00 pm. On the
drug traffic, all you can do is report what you see and let the
officials take it from there. If it is indeed going on, the couple's
apartment will probably be watched for weeks or even months
before action is taken. In the meantime why don't you go over
and get acquainted when there isn't a party going on. Take a
small house warming gift such as a candle, flowers etc, if you don't like to bake. It would be harder to be rude to the nice lady next door than to the crab who is always peeking out the curtains. PS. I am a sixty year old female.

First of all, you posted this question in the wrong section. But that's okay. Um, I say the easiest thing would be to report your neighbors to the police for the dope selling. Next, file a formal complaint with the management company. Then all you can do is see how the cards fall. There's never any knowing how tenants will behave when they move into a new place, so the manager isn't really responsible for their rude behaviour. Maybe request.. for future reference that when they move someone else new in (since it's only a matter of time before the dope sellers get dealt with by the authorities), that you as well as they are done a favour by allowing space between units. After all, 20 units is a lot of empty space. Hope that helps.

I don't feel the manager was disrespectful to you. For all you know the younger couple might have asked specifically for the apartment that they got. If you are certain that they are doing drugs you could report them to child welfare and the police.
In the meantime, buy earplugs.

This century, "respect" seems so passe to the younger people anyway. If you'r sure they are selling dope, report them to the authorities.

it sounds like you might need to be looking for a new place to move too it sounds like it might be getting run down and it may be the manger is not liking his or her job to well and wants out call the police if drug activity is going on and they need to get the children out before it is too late....
