endzone, what happens? Is it just a failed two point conversion? Can the opposing team run the ball back for a touchdown if they are able to make it? If they run it back and make it to the 50 yard line, for example, is that where they take over the ball, or does the team who scored the touchdown still have to kick it off? Please describe the various scenarios.

The opposing team can run the ball back for a safety. But if they are stopped at the 50 yard line then the team that was going for the 2 point conversion kicks off.

The opposing team can run it back to the endzone, for 2 points...

If the run-back is stopped before the endzone, than the team that had scored the touchdown has to kick off...

This is only in college ball... The NFL does not allow this, and I am unsure of the rules in high school football...

They can run it back for two points if the defense picks off a pass or recovers a fumble, or if they block the extra point and return it. There is no free play for stopping a two point conversion, though.

In the pros, however, even if a pass is picked off, fumble recovered, or kick blocked, it cannot be returned for two points by the defense.

no... well... in high school the refs say that only the offense can score. I think it's the same for college and the NFL. I once intercepted a pass on a two-point conversion in high school but they just whistled the play dead. I think only the offensive team can score.

The correct answer is: Yes. They can score even with the clock not running. It is considered a try.

the team can take the two points if they take it to the house but afterward, it is the same scenario as if the conversion was made
