Recently an odd development has taken place. Suddenly after three days of putting on any silver jewelry at all, it will start to turn black... and then it turns completely black. What could be the cause of such an unusual development.?????

I am guessing from the acid in your body, my mom was not able to wear a watch because after a few days it would stop working. I guess some of us have a pretty powerful system.

Well it means that the jewelry is fake..You are probably wearing it in the shower or keeping it under water! I have silver jewlery too, but I keep it in a box (jewelry box) and it is still not black.

:) Happy New Year!

Because it is the dirt collected from your body. It happens to everyone so do not worry because there is solution to your problem,,,,, If you have a jewelry store around or a wal-mart they have solution to clean the silver back to new.

Silver tarnished very easily. I bet that you are probably accelerating this action by sweating or perhaps a perfume or soap that you use is making the problem worse.

I have a metal allergy. This happens to me every time. I cannot wear sterling silver...It will turn black and start to corrode.

if it is costume then it is the materials used since it happens fast. otherwise there is a chance the ph balance in your skin has changed and is affecting the jewelry

the surface is newly exposed causing it to oxidizes. also because you have acids on your skin, or in lotion or soap. clear nail polish will keep it from turning black again after polishing.

Becuz it's not sterling silver. in fact, it isn't even nickel, which is a common replacement for cheaper jewelry. You get what you pay for, kiddo
