Go to Start/Run, type CMD, type "chkdsk"

chkdsk is an old program from the days of MS-DOS, you probably don't have it.

You need to use the modern equivalent, called ScanDisk. To run it, go to Start>All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> ScanDisk.

start your computer in safe mode then try it

reboot the puter.. after about 10 seconds or less keep pressing F8 key, it should start in safe mode click to accept running in safe mode, until you get to the desktop.. click on start, run, and type scandisk

also check how much disk space you have you may be running short.. clear out all your cookies, history, and temporary internet file,
