this is somewhat of a rhetorical question. you might say how come when a worm's tail or whole body is cut off, it still wiggles? the answer is unpredictable. you have to know that a string is a long line that 'extends' so if you cut it, it will still be existent and only much shorter depending on the amount you cut it. and as a foolproof base, everything in this world has end. Or else......what would become of our natural keeness and certainty. If nothing had an end, figuratively speaking, we would not be able to percieve one from the other. Everything would emerge as one. Ah! So to cut it short and simple, a string will always have double ends unless you merge the ends together so it cannot be percieved.

Actually, if you cut the ends off a string, it has six ends, not two.
