You know what i mean, Asda stocking xmas stuff in october, xmas adverts on tv from november, total in your face commercial nonsense! Comercially, should christmas start from the 1st of december next year? Less stress, more money!

Yes and no. Except for the commercial bit, I don't see why Christmas can't start the day after all souls days! I love the music, the elevated feelings of good will and happiness. I also like buying gifts for others, and tend to start early.
For me, no stress, I do it because I enjoy it.

In the final analysis, it doesn't matter how commercial or not commercial the shops may be, and attempt to plunder our last dime... what really matters is the good feelings, giving and recieving gifts, and sharing good times with family and close mates.
Next year, however, I am going to put up decorations a bit more early, and start shopping a bit more early as well.

:)

P.S. My Christmas won't really end until prolly a couple more weeks, when I get back to my uni work in full.

YES!!! It is horrifying to see Christmas items for sale in September! Also, I agree with the person who said that Christmas music should not start until December 20. I work in a grocery store that plays it from the day after Thanksgiving until the day before Christmas (the store closes Christmas Day), and I have heard it in other stores as early as November 4!

Yes, I would prefer a less commercial Christmas, but, let's face it, that's not going to happen. Many people do like to spread the expense of Christmas over a few months. However, we do have a choice - we don't have to buy into the commercialism - we can focus on the true meaning of Christmas & on giving to those less fortunate than ourselves.

Yes I would like that to happen, doubt it will though as its the way companies make money out of people today, total exploitation, no wonder people are up to their eyeballs in debt these days, I think people are getting seriously fed up of it all, especially those who spent a fortune before the big day only to see most of the things they bought at half price a few days later, that's like a kick in the guts, I used to love Christmas so much, but its just become over commercialised, over expensive and over bearing, next year me and my hubby are spending our money on a holiday in the sun instead of keeping the shops in profit, have a great new year.

If I had things my way, there would be no commercial Christmas at all. No Santa, no trees, no reindeer, no presents, no anything. Just a church service celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

But we can't all live in hypothetical land. Commercial Chistmas will exist and will problably become eariler and worse with every passing year for money's sake. I guess i'll just have to live for Christmas in heavan, were we can really throw a birthday party for Jesus! :)

Christmas should start around December 20. It should be illegal to put up decorations or play Christmas music before that date!! Then it would seem more special. I don't know about anyone else, but I find it depressing to hear Christmas music in November!

Christmas is totally non-commercial for me. Didn't spend a dime on Christmas. Nada.

I just smile when I hear people whine about holiday stress. Are you a lemming? Who's forcing you to jump through those hoops?

Yes, I sure would. It's like everybody is always in a hurry for Christmas to be here.As soon as the holidays are over with then the stores will soon be decorated for Valentine's Day. It's too much of a rush.

I think let the companys and some people keep it as comercial as they want. It allows me to find out the people around me who only care about gifts vs those who are more about the spirit of good will. Anyone can give a gift to someone but you have to try to make someone feel special.
