The people kind, not the crab kind. How does one survive as a hermit?

If you want to avoid people as much as possible, you need to become self sufficient. Hunt or raise your own meat. Learn to cultivate vegetables and fruits. Scavange for wild blackberries. Collect rain in barrels. Of course money to buy or build a cabin out in the wilderness would be helpful if you want to avoid other humans. Learn emergency first aid so you can take care of yourself. Knowledge of herbs would be useful.
OR, if that is too much work, you could just stop bathing and eventually you would smell so bad, everyone will avoid you and leave you the heck alone! :) LOL! Good Luck to you!

A hermit is also known as a recluse -- a person who never or seldom has any social contact whatsoever. Why would you want to be one? The world is full of interesting people and places and things to do. What would you gain by giving all that up? As to the question of survival, that's another issue. If you can be happy with only yourself as a companion, then I doubt if you will survive very long. Loneliness has been known to contribute to the factors that can cause premature death. Human beings are social creatures and not meant to live in the world alone. I would give some serious thought to not being a hermit if I were you, or at least limit hermit thoughts to crabs only. Good luck!

I believe there are several types of Hermit, I am thinking that a hermit does not leave their home or maybe lives way off by themselves they only come out to buy groceries or have them delivered and they do everything possible not to interact with other people. I think a true hermit has developed a low self esteem or has had people do them wrong and they are sick of it. When I get mad I tell my husband I want to move on top of a mountain and see NO ONE

You bascilly go into the moutains or somewhere where there are no people and you make a hut to live in and hunt for food out there.

They had a case ( I think on discovery channel) where one man lives on a island and made himself a hut and he hunts his food and at rare times he will go into town and buy some supplies (tp etc) and come back..

But if you want to be a hermit never talk to anyone and go somewhere where there are no people and live in the wilderness.

You'll need some sort of income, otherwise you'll just end up homeless or worse. If you got the money covered, just live alone, have no visitors, and never go anywhere. Bummer.
