Almost all new punk/alt bands are just... ugh... so I listen mostly to the older bands like Nine Inch Nails (fave band!), STP, Disturbed, Korn, Tool, A Perfect Circle, Muse, some Orgy, some Marilyn Manson, some System of a Down... then, there are bands that have certain songs I just like.
Future Leaders of the World - Let Me Out (sorry for the bad quality vid)

Hurt - Rapture

Seriously, I say just stick with the good sh*t like Nirvana and Metallica...no Panic! At the Disco or Fallout Boy or crap like that.

Dope, Arch Enemy, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall. Those are some good metal bands out there. Trivium is pretty good, too. I agree with you about the radio. I know Chicago radio really sucks when it comes to good rock stations. They play the same old, worn out songs over and over again.

If you get a chance, you should find where "Crow's Run Band"
is playing, they are good. "Fabulous gunslingers" are good too.
