This would upset me too. I would ask your boyfriend why his father did that. Perhaps he has a phobia about eating other people's food (I know someone that did. I also knew someone that would only eat off their own plates).
Try to shake it off, and I would not ask his parents why. Obviously, the father has some strange issue. If he did it to show his disapproval or lack of acceptance of you, "kill him with kindness". I don't think this is the case though, since he came over. It was very nice of you to invite everyone over and I am sure everyone else loved it!

at the lest it is totally strange and weird, he was totally rude of him to do that, as you said no dietary restrictions, and he likes the meal you cooked, He obviously did it for a REASON and most likely he was trying to get some type of reaction out of you, MAYBE he even talked to his son about it before they left their home, and by being NICE and KIND and Gentle and a fantastic hostess, I bet you passed what ever test the OLD man Had for you, he may of told his son, lets see how she handles this problem of disgrace and you were very gracious to everyone while the OLD MAN tried to get you upset and going for some strange reason on Christmas, weird for sure...but have you asked you boyfriend what was up, say tell me the God's Honest Truth, and see what eh says, do NOT get into an argument with him,not worth it now..wait a few days then ask him...but today and tonight SMILE have a lot of fun
good luck

Happy New Year

I would totally be annoyed! I do get annoyed easily (not saying you do), but still, this is legit. Try not to talk to your bf about it, though, cause he might tell his parents that you were annoyed, and his parents might think something completely distorted that was not what you meant at all. It could just get communicated wrong, that's all. If you do talk to him, though, just do it in a very subtle way, like, what do you think your parents thought of the food on Christmas (notice parents, not mom), or did your parents say anything about that lunch? If he doesn't get the hint, let it go, and next time you have them over, call when you're planning what to make and ask what they want, find something you both like, and tell them what you'll be eating. Hope this helps!!

Unless he has special dietary requirements which he didn't want to bother you with, I'd say him bringing his own food was very rude. But as this is not your family, it's not for you to deal with. Your boyfriend needs to have a talk with his dad and find out what reason he had for acting the way he did. Don't let your boyfriend get out of doing that either - you went to a lot of trouble to provide a nice holiday meal for his family, and he owes it to you to stand by you in this.

Sounds like he's just a grumpy old guy. You did a great job, and everybody loved your turkey, so what if he brought his own lunch? That just means more for the rest of you. He loses, not you! Don't let it cross your mind again......Happy New Year!!

That was really, really rude. I would ask your boyfriend about it. Was that something he's in the habit of doing? Honestly, I think your boyfriend should talk to his father about it. If you say anything, it could cause problems. Talk to your boyfriend, tell him how offended you were by what his father did. He should have a conversation with the father.
If you are generally really close to the father, you can talk to him yourself.

So he ate his own lunch, so what? Maybe he didn't feel like eating turkey and it's trimmings. It just means there more of the food you prepared for everyone else. Quit being picky about it.
