Hello, I've been trying to grow brine shrimp for the past few months, but just for the fun of it. I'm wondering if anyone has ever been able to raise brine shrimp just on yeast? I've done a lot of research on the habitats of brine shrimp and i have even recorded and used different mixtures of salts and baking soda, but yet... i can never get them to live too long. I give them a lot of light and i use distilled water, but something is still missing. I have once grown brine shrimp to adulthood but they weren't very healthy... and they looked like they could die off any minute. (this culture was provided with oxygen too) Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on how to raise brine shrimp and have them reproduce to create a continuous cycle? I would greatly apreciate your help. Thnx

One way to grow brine shrimp to adulthood is outdoors in the summer time. A children's wading pool (cheap plastic one) set up where it will get plenty of sun,but not get the brine diluted by rain water ( a little rain is OK) will grow stuff that the shrimp can feed on, although a little yeast for starters might help. You may be able to harvest eggs for later use. It's a fun experiment, give it a try. PeeTee

I'm not sure why you would want your brine shrimp to live very long, are you raising them to raise them or for food? I hatch mine in marine tank water with a light bulb for heat and a bubbler. Then feed to everyone else. If you wanted to feed the shrimp, try crushed egg yoke from a hard boiled egg.
