I am a huge Elvis fan and have each and every one of his movies, as do most Elvis fans, but quite honestly, I don't think his movies had any impact or influence on society. Elvis wanted to be an actor, a serious actor, but Col. Parker thought differently. He wanted to draw the most crowds possible and bring in the most money possible and what better way to do that then have Elvis sing in the movies. Elvis didn't like that, but pretty much had to go along with it. Each movie had the same plot in a different setting. He was always after a girl and always got into a fight. Elvis was getting tired of the movies because he wasn't getting serious roles like he wanted and every role was the same. He was getting bubble gum pop movie roles. Elvis's favorite movie was King Creole, because he got to be at least a little bit serious. Elvis was even up for a co-starring role in "A Star is Born", but (according to the stories I heard) because he had to share top billing with Barbara Strisand, Col. Parker wouldn't allow it. I hope this is helping you out. Basically, Elvis' music and concerts had a huge impact on Society, Elvis as a person, had a huge impact on society. Elvis movies? That didn't have an impact at all, in my opinion. It was Elvis' attempt at being an actor, but the roles were cheesy, the plots were the same and Elvis wasn't able to get a true feeling of what being an actor is all about. You have to remember that at the time Elvis became popular, he was doing things that most parents or elderly thought to be vulgar. He was doing things that were unheard of at the time. Elvis wanted a hand at acting, but Col. Parker and Elvis weren't sure how he would be percieved as an actor when he was being shunned by some, as a singer. Elvis wanted to be a serious actor, but the Col. wanted to sell and wanted to draw the most crowds possible. What sells? Elvis sells. But people only knew Elvis the singer so to draw the most crowds, Col. thought Elvis needed to sing in the movies. Don't get me wrong, I love Elvis' movies. They may be bubble gum pop, cheesy , "B-movies", but I still like them. However, that's coming from an Elvis fan. You ask another Elvis fan and they may have a different opinon, but you ask a non-Elvis fan and what will they name you? You'll get "Love Me Tender" and "Jailhouse Rock". Other than those 2, I doubt they'll know any other Elvis movies and that shows you right there that the movies didn't have an impact. I will admit that "Love Me Tender" had an impact, but in a bad way because it's widely known as the movie where Elvis died. That's one thing the movie companies learned. You don't kill Elvis off in a movie. They caught a lot of flack from millions of Elvis fans on that one. Most of his movies are only known in the Elvis world, but outside of the Elvis world, many know just a few. If Elvis movies had an impact on society, they would be known like "Rebel without a cause" or "Gone With The Wind." You may not have seen them, but you know about them and what they're about. I'm sorry, I know this was long, but I hope I helped. Even just a tiny bit.

search IMDB.com for Elvis.

Just click on any of his movies, scroll towards the bottom of the page and just read some of the message boards. Alot of people tried to emulate Elvis, and you can pick up on that in those posts
