Ideally, I'd prefer to hear from mature-aged gay men who are old enough to remember the 1980's, not the gay boys who were BORN in the1980's.

I am 30 years of age, been on the 'scene' for 13 years, and I am no 'whipper snapper'.

"Gay ancestors"??? Gay men can't get pregnant on their own.

I was born in 1949...I remember the '80's well. My community consists mostly of people my age..both straight and gay (the importance of sexual preference sorta fades over time---I like/love my friends for who they are). "old" gay men are clearly visible in my communtity. That's good..because not all of us older men are all that interested in younger men. No offence, it's just that we prefer people our own age--with similar life experience.

Oh well thank you so much for the mature aged 50+ and old gay men labels .............that was really nice.

All I can say to you sonny boy is do not blink ............because you will be 50+ that quickly.

Yes we are in the gay community, we are the gay community, we started the gay community, we paved the way for all you kids to be openly gay, we were there, we fought the battles, and we have won the war.

Now all you little whipper snappers need to pay homage to us, your leaders, you saviors, your "gay parents" and "grandparents" .

I was here when they had the Stonewall riots in NYC, when it was illegal for two men to be on the dance floor without a woman between them.
I was born in 1954 that makes me 52 chronologically but I still think and feel 25 every where else so watch what you say and how you say it........................we old men .................we were hot muscle studs just a blink back ..............and many of us still are muscle studs with everything in working order and it hasn't truly slowed down it has just matured.
Matured like rich red wine, good depth, thick body, and titillates the palate and more....................................

PAY HOMAGE TO YOUR GREAT GAY ANCESTORS AND BE THANKFUL WE PAVED THE WAY FOR YOU ALL!

I not only remember them I was there at the very begining. For many years I didn't have a relationship. I first thought I was too busy partying. As I got older I figured I'd be one of those older 'Historian Queen's' who sat at the bar entertaining strangers with stories of the Disco Days. One day I wasn't paying attention and there he was. We've been together 7 years. The community won't come searching for you, you have to find it. Volunteer; gay center in your area needs people to answer phones, work in clinics, deliver food, share rides and many more things. At our age (I'm 49) the gays before us suffered terribly to make it possible for us to struggle yet survive. The next generation after their ego's come back down like ours did, will have us to thank and so on. So get off your still young behind and go show the gay world how grateful you are for still being here. Also set an example for the next one's. Straights can debate on whether we have the right to walk this earth. We're not going anywhere and when we are no longer the flavor of the month for the do-gooder's we'll still have each other. Get out there and make the world a little bit brighter for yourself, then watch what happens, you'll actuall have on a smile!

most of the older gay men are either partnered and stay home a lot or a few still go to gay bars and visit with the other gays there, I am over 50 and so I guess I qualify to answer this question. Some of the older gay men also give some advice to the younger gay men, when they ask for it, but most think they know everything and are all better than us older guys, although they will be old one day themselves

Most men that age are called "Silver Foxes" and in larger cities have their own nightclubs for them and their admirer's. When heading to a new city, just ask around.

PS and quite a few would be honored with your attentions!

I don't believe that I've ever heard any man in that age group publically discussing his sexuality.
