A couple of what?

Married is married. If the wedding was legal where they had it performed, then they are considered married anywhere in the world.

Edit: People are wrong about same sex marriages and the USA whereas it concerns your question. Sure, if the couple are US citizens, then their marriage in Canada wouldn't be recognized in the USA at the present time. Or if they applied for and obtained US citizenry, then their marriage wouldn't be recognized as a legal union anymore in the USA. But if they aren't citizens of the USA, then their marriage is considered legal by the USA. If they come to the USA as anything but citizens of the USA, then they will be recognized there as a married couple.

For the MOST part yes. If the couple is gay, gay marriage is not recognized in most of the USA states. Also, if the marriage was illegal in Canada it is also illegal in the USA.

Yes, unless they are same-sex, in which case, the DOMA signed by Clinton applies; this prohibits the federal government from recognizing a same-sex marriage.

Some companies may honor a same-sex marriage under their employment conditions, such as health care; but they are not required to do so.
