Of course Cheney praised Ford for the pardon. He probably had a hand in persuading him to do it since he was Ford's Chief of Staff.. Kept Cheney in the political arena for another 30 years & out of the slammer, didn't it? At the time, I thought Ford was right to pardon Nixon. Now I believe we are all paying for not going ahead with it. We really didn't know just how far the corruption went. Most of us believed it stopped at Nixon. Now it looks like we may have been wrong.Take a long hard look at how many of the Bush inner circle came from other scandals where the investigations were cut short. Sure are a lot of them. Gates & Baker are the latest 2. Anyone remember Iran-Contra? Scooter Libby? When are people going to wake up?
I still believe Ford did what he believed was right. He had humility & integrity, even though I did not agree with him politically.. I don't feel the same about many of his advisers of those years.

with a view to wish a pardon, first a criminal offense might desire to be dedicated. Cheney became giving tribute to Ford's forethought in pardoning Nixon. Ford pardoned Nixon and sacrificed any desire of reelection he had with a view to maintain the distinction of the place of work of the President of america. Cheney probable theory, as I do, that it became a noble subject to do.

Your question is biased and unfair. The only thing Nixon did wrong, having to do with Watergate was lie, after the fact, trying to protect member's of his cabinet. Bill Clinton lied trying to protect himself, yet, most American's, and you, forgive him. How much hypocrisy do you intend us to bare from you? I say, I won't bare any.
War crimes will never come about for either Dick Cheney, or President Bush. There is no evidence, only made up stories that have come by whacked liberals who can't stand a president who stands up to the plate, and takes on an invisible enemy, terrorism. You just can't stand the fact that every liberal president America has had in office, has brought shame, and dishonor to the American people.
Example's: Lyndon B. Johnson, brought the Vietnam war, for his own selfish greed of MONEY (his wife owned 1/3 stocks in Brown and Root, they making unnecessary new uniforms, and equipment for the military in order to profit. They made millions on the death of American soliers as young as the age of 17.)
Bill Clinton...didn't get Saddam Hussein, delivered to him on a silver platter by Jordon, also did NOTHING, when the Cole was attacked by terrorists in Yemen killing over 20 soldiers, and which was an act of war, one of our embassy's was attacked in the middle east, which is an act of war, and he did NOTHING, I could go on, but enough said.
President Nixon deserved that Pardon, he saved American Face at the last of the Vietnam war, by bombing the bajesus out of Vietnam before departing, which Johnson should have done from the start, but he didn't want to WIN, he wanted MONEY! These are facts, and you need to face them.

Perhaps you need a little more time (like a century) to realize that these words are true.
Ford SUBMARINED his own political aspirations with his pardon of Nixon (a**hole). Ford knew that as long "the Nixon question" was out there - nothing in this Country could go forward.
Who did you say was a disgrace?

If Ford hadn't pardoned Nixon, there would have been years of trials and accusations that the struggling nation could not support. More and more people are looking back and slowly realizing that Ford made the best decision for the weak nation.

I was a young adult when that happened and I remember that it was a very, very unpopular decision. However, history has shown that it was a good decision. What's wrong with Cheney pointing that out? That a President would have the balls to go against just about everyone's opinion demonstrates what all politicians should learn: Put the country FIRST. If you'll study history you will also find that Lincoln was very unpopular during his term. Again, histroy is the final judge, not what your emotions tell you at the moment.

It was necessary. It was right. We only saw that later.
At least he was open and above-board about it. He flat out pardoned Nixon, told us why, and he was right.
It marked the end of Ford's illustrious, successful career as a dedicated American - he knew it would be the end of that career, and he did it anyway.
You can't condemn Ford because you don't like the guy praising him.

Not funny for Dick...he is shrewd... that was a calculated move which may come in handy for him!
The funny thing of course is that Dick thinking that the Dems have a spine and will hold him and Bush accountable! Hahahahaha....that's funny!

I don't know how old you are, but I was an adult during this time period. The country badly needed healing. Ford's pardon of Nixon helped speed that process up.
