Ugggh! I have 4 beautiful Goldfish but I have gotten really fed up taking care of them. I clean there water every week and I also clean there filter every couple of days. I would like them to die because when they do I would be able to use the tank for something else. My dad gave me the "helpful" suggestion of just flushing them down the toilet. Well I am an animal freak and would never want to kill and animal. Is there any way that you can slowly let goldfish die without causing pain or feeling guilty the rest of your life?

Rae

Also if anyone lives in or near Collingwood than I would be happy to give you my fish for free.

No matter how your fish die, even if they die naturally, you will always feel guilty because you actually thought you wanted to kill them. Take the time to find someone who says they will take care of them. That way if they die, you can feel relieved that you did your best.

well my opinion is, regardless of whether an animal has 4 legs and walks or fins and breathes underwater they should all be treated with proper care and flushing live fish down the toilet only kills them any ways and is actually a very cruel way to die,it is harsh on the fish.
a known fact is that fish are one of the easiest pets to look after so if you are finding these fish a pain to look after then perhaps you should consider not acquiring another pet. as sad as it is. or maybe u could get a small tank and only keep one fish you could get away with cleaning it once a fortnight.
my advice would be to try to give the fish to a responsible friend who will look after it.
Or even contact a pet store and advice them of your situation and perhaps offer to give the goldfish to the pet shop.
you could also advertise in the local newspaper with a small fee but u could maybe sell them, so then the cost would cover the advertising fee.
goodluck, try to find them a new home.

Trying to get them to die is just another way of killing them, so stop being a hypocrite.

You should never have been given a pet if you aren't going to commit to taking care of it. How would you like it if your parents tried to have you die because they got tired of taking care of you? But since you have the goldfish, then I suggest you accept your responsibility and take care of them properly.

Your dad is a real jerk, too, suggesting you flush fish that are alive.

Put an ad up on Craigslist.org and get rid of the fish for free. The slower the death the more painful. If you overfeed them they will die, I mean fat and happy right?! haha. But, I feel bad so try and find them homes if you can. I wish I could take them but I live in Tampa.
Good luck.

A lot of pet stores will give you store credit when you sell them fish or any other animal. (I breed swords, raise them, and make a profit as a hobby). So you can get rid of them, and also get a few dollars off whatever animal you want to replace them with.

Don't allow them to die. Just have your parents, friends, family, etc. ask around at work or really any club or activity they belong to if anyone wants some goldfish. I needed to get rid of my fish too and that's what i did!

Take them to a pet store and maybe get store credit for them. I did that with a a pair of pirannas quarter size and got twenty dollars store credit. If nothing else maybe some1 in the neighborhood would take them.

Bring them to a fish store, just tell them you want to get rid of them and don't want any money or credit for them...most places will be happy to take them off your hands.

Not Petco or Petsmart or any of those places, like a little local fish shop.

Im wondering what on earth you are planning to use the tank for! What ever you do to hasten their demise is going to make you feel miserably guilty, so forget it. I dont think they really live that long anyway so just be nice to them for the rest of their short life!
