I find it best to make my listings on sunday, because when the timer runs low, it ends up getting the most traffic on the weekend, so more people are likely to bid.

According to a book I recently bought ("3 weeks to eBay profits" by Skip McGrath), the gist of it was it's best to list it so the auction comes to a close on either a Sunday or Monday.
