The person who you want to be close to sends you an e-mail and you answer right back, then they never get back to you for half a year, and you're excited to hear from them, so you write back right away, then the next answer you get from them is a half year later again. Then it repeats and you keep answering their questions, but when they get back to you they never answer what you asked them? I'm talking about family members and a "friend."

I can't be so bothered with these people anymore. It's not really communication.

Don't bother with it anymore. The actions are speaking loud and clear.

You can't choose your family members - but you can choose your friends. And frankly, somebody who won't answer your e-mail within a couple days, no more than a week, isn't a true friend. You are just someone who happens to be on their list so they think about you in passing. You don't need friends like these. You are better than that!

As for family, stop being disappointed and accept them as they are. Try calling them once in a while. Some folks just don't care to write - letters or e-mails!

Ain't that the truth, same deal here. I just keep answering and sending e mails as I know they read them and take solace in that.
One friend of mine sends a Christmas News Letter to me each year and this makes up for the unanswered e mails.
I guess the person you would like to get close to does not know how you feel, or they can not reciprocate them and this is their way of staying in touch with you. Re questions, sometimes people just don't like answering questions or it has been to long between e mails they don't consider them relevant. Who knows?

Perhaps you could find a polite way to e-mail your concern to them and see if and how they respond. Their behavior is rude and they clearly don't find the need to be in regular contact with you. Just don't sink to their level. Make the initial effort and then let it go. It just may be enough to rattle their cages and let them see that you recognize this behavior.Good luck!

Quit responding to the e-mails when they do arrive.
