Some of you are blind, especially the ones who must ask their little opinion questions, you ALWAYS choose a "best anwser" that isn't an answer at all, it is simply somebody agreeing with your opinion. Why do you even ask in the first place? You don't get anything done, you don't suddenly change your mind, and quite often, your "best answer" doesn't have any information in it at all. Don't blind yourself to others opinions, think about the people that DON'T agree with you. Don't choose an answer because you like it, it should have validity and information etc. Don't choose the answer that agrees, or sounds "nicest" to you. Please, if you are going to ask a question, although it may not be bad in the first place, choose an intelligent answer. And also, tell me if you realise that you are a culprit and will change this at all, because that's what Yahoo! Answers is about, hearing others opinions, ideas and gathering information or help. Are you a culprit? How do you feel about this?

This is actually very amusing, many of you...how shall I say this...have been misled by my question, and I do believe that I worded it fairly clearly. Anyways, I thank ALL of those who have thought in their answer, but I will not be choosing a "Best Answer" that, I leave to you. I believe though, that all answers are equal, as one of you have said, though I forget your name, in the fact that all answers really don't matter. Now when it comes to validity, information provided and common sense, no, not all answers are equal, because some people don't put anything into their answers. Now I understand that many people are just having a good time sometimes, and those people can go on that way, I don't care. It's the ones who present a serious issue. Of course there are moronic answers, and good ones. I look for quality, not right/wrong. In opinion, answers are all equal, in thought and practical application, I am afraid that not all of them are. Read carefully, because you're wasting time.

I think not all people care but yes it would be nice ot get a best answer legitamently. I think some goof off in here but I see what is a best answer and sometimes I disagree even with my ratings I see a better answer than mine and I disagree with the rating however part of the spirit of what this is is people and people are not perfect. This is a flaw of making decision based on majority rule. Sometimes the majority can be wrong.

Good question. To get the best answer of this question, I guess I'll have to come to their defense.

I don't see what's wrong with an answer that has no empirical evidence in it. I do LD Debate, and compared to my teammates, they have about 2.5 pages of evidence while i usually have less than 3/4 of a page, yet I win more than them. The best answer lies in how it is presented.

Presentation would answer your next question. True; often people just pick the answer that sounds nicest to them. Why would we have an incentive to do otherwise, if all the others were equal in validity of strength?

The only way you could go against this is by saying opinions are not equal, but then you would have to present to us a way to "measure" opinions. More utilitarian? Then you would oppose the thinking of deontologists (dunno if i spelled that), and a number of them would quit Y! Answers. That would make this a utilitarian thinking site, and make this place unbalanced; a place where you don't really get advice and answers.

As for asking for opinions, I don't see why you discourage people wanting to know what other people think. They pick the answer that sounds nicest, which they should, since all the answers are equal.

your totally missing the obvious, any one can give an answer a rating so why can't u get the idea of a joke just like the class bully, just like the nasty stuff that happens to computer, so why don't u c that psychopathic mouse clickers are adding this feature by selecting off the walls to make confusions work for them, it has a double whammy first u c it wrong and second the requester of the answer gets it wrong and soon the disinformation freak is normal~they live this way, they are people who have too many skills and too much time on there hands, like old bar tenders and people who c human behaviors and manipulate for their enjoyment not for quality of content here

That's why I try to stick to questions that aren't too opinionated. I asked a few of those. Not only did I get people's opinions (which is what I asked for) I also got incredibly rude comments. I try very hard to answer questions thoughtfully and to the best of my knowledge, so I hope that my answers that are chosen as best are because they are informative. I agree that alot of people are just fishing to see who is on their side and vote for those who are.

I agree with your comment all the way. most of these answers are ignorant and misleading and the others aren't serious at all. there are so many good answers that really make you think about where you stand on a situation, but the person that asked the question chose the one that he or she wanted to hear. it's like asking a question and rewarding the one who agreed with you. it's unfair, and you and i, my friend, are among the few that realize this problem.

I am not a culprit, I have only ever asked 6 questions.

I do, however do a lot of rating and a short concise answer to the actual question will get my vote every time.

I am NOT a culprit!! (reminds me of that Nixon comment I made earlier. LMAO)

I agree with you totally!
Oops, wait...you said you didn't like it when people just agreed mindlessly with whatever the question asker asked...(How many questions could a question asker ask if a question asker could ask questions?)

Ok, so, say I disagree with you now- are you gonna pick mine as the best answer because I am contrary to your opinion? Hmmm...you have me in a real quandry now. Darn you anyway!
What to do, what to do...??
