There are lots of good role models out there in the world that are not written about in the media. Yet every day the media tries to brain wash us with the people they think we should be thinking about. So who are the real role models?
Some samples: Christopher Reeve - his character, values, attitude and how he handles his disadvantages… Robin Williams, Bill Cosby, Jane Fonda, Sandra Bullock, Linda Evans, Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, Jimmy Carter, Martin Luther King Jr., and what about Tyra Banks; she is not just another pretty face, Jesus Christ, Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Sites....
And then there is Rodin Hood.
So who are good role models? And what role models should we have? Are some better for us then others? Or are some just obsessions and not really role models at all?
Think about it...

It is not our place to judge others, and just because Jen Aniston isn't in the news as having done some good in the world doesn't mean she hasn't. Lots of people do GREAT things and their deeds go unheard of. I'm not saying she has done good, I'm just saying we don't know, we can't assume.
It's funny how no one even looked at this question until I posted it with Angelina's name on it... is it media brain washing us? Hum??

I think it's a bad idea to look to celebrities as role models. We don't really know them.
The best role model is Jesus Christ and I don't say this because I am a religious fanatic.
I think that if we are lucky and have wonderful parents that we respect greatly, we should look to them for guidance. They, afterall, know us best.

Just remember that the difference between celebrities and everyday people is that they are hounded by cameras and have their every move scrutinized. They get the bucks, so this is their trade off. I think that some celebrities have their struggles and problems, and it's out there, for us to read all about.
AJ is a decent mother, IMO. She has done more for those 2 babies then anyone else would have and I have immense respect for that. For the cheating, Brad didn't have a gun to his head. He let his penis wander, and AJ didn't resist too much.
No one's perfect and if you would consider any celebrity as a role model, then maybe you should reevaluate where you are in life. By virtue of what they do and what they are, celebs are spoiled and attention-seekers...think about it.
MY idea of a role model is a person who can try to do the right thing, even when no one's looking. Or someone who isn't afraid to stand up and SPEAK OUT.
Peace for everyone.

While I think Angelina Jolie does great things for children (adopting, giving money, visiting orphanages...) she rarely does anything for her home country...I understand that children overseas needs help but so do children here, and to my knowledge she has not done anything for American children.
Also, I don't think of her as a role model because, even though she has cleaned up, I still remember her as the trashy actress who kissed her brother and wore Billy Bob's blood around her neck.
I think that the real role models are all the people who serve our country in the military and all the police officers and firefighters who risk their lives everyday to help others.

Angelina is not a role model! The only reason she does all that good stuff is to make herself look better and for publicity, especially after she did what she did. On top of that, she's not really all that great lookin. I don't say that because I'm jealous or a hater like some might say.If I see a woman I think looks good then I have no problem saying she looks good. I happen to think that Drew Barrymore is hot...see...I said it!
OMG msubabe01 is sooo right! Why in the crap would you want to do things for kids overseas until we solve our own problems here in America. There are plenty of starving children here that need homes and food and education. I pass them going down the street right here in my own city! It breaks my heart! What about those children??!!!

Hmm no way. Well, ok probably a good role model for the work that she does overseas and helping the needy, but other than that. no.
I like what she does for the world, and for that I admire her for it. But gah, no way can she be a role model like now.
She said she never wanted a kid of her own and what does she do? She has a f'in kid with Brad Pitt.

Well, Angelina is a HELL of a better Role Model than Jen Aniston is!
Jen gives back NOTHING---she just cries a lot and expects the world to pity her!
No wonder Brad left that selfish bee-yotch.

I think Angelina Jolie had a rough past, but with what she has done with her life recently, like her dedication to aiding people with AIDS, I personally believe that everything evens out. But I would not put her along the likes of Gandhi or Mother Theresa

I think it's fine that she adopts children from other countries and it's great she cares so much about children around the globe however we have millions of sick, homeless, handicap, orphan children in this country and I think we should help our american children rather than search the globe for other less fortunate kids when we have so many right here under our noses. ~Just my two sense~
