Cut up 3 lemons and put them in the microwave and heat them for a minute. Be careful removing them because they get hot so just leave them in there with the door closed and the scent will come out.

Put a bowl of water with some vanilla in it and set the timer for about 10 minutes and then leave the bowl in until it cools down and then wipe it out. This works also for getting rid of the smell of food that has been left in the microwave for several days while we were on vacation.

Wash thoroughly with a solution of warm water and white vinegar - rinse with clear water - if odor persists cover entire bottom of microwave with baking soda and let set 24 hours - rinse and the microwave should be fresh and sweet. This works great on burnt popcorn smell too! Good Luck!

Make a spray bottle mixture of vinegar and water(three parts water to one part vinegar) . Spray and wipe. It may take a few times. Then put a small bowl of this mixture in th microwave and bake it for a minute at a time, in intervals. You do not have to worry, I know the smell is bad , but it is harmless to use.

After wipeing it out really good I guess I would put a microwave safe bowl mixed with water and pinesol. As it begins to boil the aroma should help clean out the fan and other areas inside your microwave. Afterward, put a box of baking soda in there and leave it over night.

Fill the micro with loosely crumbled brown paper. Grocery store bags are fine. Not so tight that air can't circulate. Close the door, and let the paper in for a few days. The carbon of the paper will absorb the odor.

Totally cleaning it should do the trick. If not, after totally cleaning it, try wiping it out with a mixture of water and baking soda. If that does not work, put a small opened box of baking soda in the oven for a day or so, or when not in use.
