I would much rather be blind because I would not want to deal with the loss of hearing music, singing, or communicating with people one-on-one without the use of an interpreter. Deafness seems so isolating. Verbal communication is so essential to so much of what we do that I cannot imagine living without the ability to freely communicate...even if if means communicating without the use of my eyes.

Neither, but deafness would leave me able to communicate by reading and writing while keeping my sight.
