any good reason why it should be a curse if you're born on the date?

Are you referring to the fact that, in the RCC calendar this is the "Feast of the Holy Innocents"? There is not, as far as I know, any significance, good or bad, to that day. Whether you consider yourself blessed or cursed is completely up to you.

Is there some significance to the date? The calendar is actually quite arbitrary and is not the first or only one ever used.

well it's a curse because you already get all your presents on christmas or everyone is too broke to buy you something on your birthday
