I have read your answers so far and they don't answer the questions.
The main theme of A Clockwork Orange is criminal behavior is characteristic of society. You can not have one without the other and though you may change the face of crime and alter the sounds of violence it none the less survives in the world you live in.
The ending is supposed to mean that Alex has succeeded in making society work for him. He no longer has to take what he wants because people are now giving him things willingly. Why? They made it impossible for him to do for himself. That same part of him that used to attack people now refuses to protect him from people. He is a true victim of society.

It is based on an idea from Pavlov(he used a bell to train dogs, He'd ring a bell when it would be time to eat so after a while it became instinct for the dogs to hear a bell and expect food) In the movie a clockwork orange they take Alex and drug him(with his promission and a reduced sentence) they then show him violent and nasty film. He gets sick during the movies, so after a while he starts to get sick just by watching them on his own(no drugs needed) So they deem him cured and release him into society. But it backfires and then the state has to take care of him.

Well, the main theme is violence, of course.
I think it's an interesting movie, because it shows the protagonist as a very bad person, with the violence and rapes for most of the movie, and then toward the end shows you a reformed character, who is prone to extreme illness when he is subjected to any kind of violence. It turns the victimized society into an evil one that isolates our main character into an outcast.
And all of a sudden, the audience starts feeling remorse of this deviant that we spent most of the movie hating.
If I were to guess, I'd think Kubrick was commenting on the ways that we choose to deal with our criminals. That kind of behavior is ingrained, and may be groomed out, but still is part of someone's nature.

*CONTIANS SPOLIERS*
The main themes are violence, rape, sex, and alcohol. The ending is supposed to mean this = When Alex goes to the jail and they try to "cure" him of his violent acts they give him a pill that makes him sick. Right after they do this, they show movies of girls getting raped, people beating up other people, and just violence in general. That way he will get sick when he sees this happening.
At the ending he is having sex with a girl in the snow. I think this means that no matter how bad they tortured him and no matter how good he became, there was always still that violence in him and that urge to have sex with (or rape) girls.

Main theme: nature of evil and good and if society is good or just restrained.
Ending: Good can only come from within, i.e., goodness because of incapacity to be evil is not good. May have some link with Descarts's view on the subject.

Tell you what I thought when I saw it; even though I wasn't high, if I didn't know better, I'd've thought I was.
