"Is it possible to create a web page that takes advantage of multiple tabbed browsers?"
No. Opening up tabs is under the control of the browser, not the webpage. You can however, force a link to be opened up in a new window, and then have firefox open up new windows in new tabs (has to be explicitly chosen in Firefox).

Faulty answers from others:
"HTML has not advanced enough to incorperate tabbed browsing"
HTML doesn't deal with tabbed browsing. It's a web document markup language. Tabbed browsing a user agent specific ability. Different things altogether.

"it (HTML) isn't open source"
http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/#recommendations

Specs are completely open. It's an open standard.

"Java is probably your best bet"
How's this? Do you mean Javascript (which has nothing to do with Java)? Javascript has no provision for tabbed browsing.

"would defeat the purpose of Firefox's pop-up blocker"
Pop-ups are auto opened new windows. They just get resized with javascript. Same idea for new tabs...

"Also the way links open in firefox is user defined"
Yes. User agent choices are final. If you want, you can force new tabs to be opened in a new window instead...

Also the way links open in firefox is user defined. I just so happen to like my links opening in another tab rather than the same tab and i despise them opening in an entire new window. So writing a webpage that could do that would override the users settings...and that would piss me off....

I'm sure in some way it is possible. The downside to finding the way for that implementation, however, would defeat the purpose of Firefox's pop-up blocker.

it all depends on the user. HTML has not advanced enough to incorperate tabbed browsing, and it isn't open source, so we cant change it. Java is probably your best bet.
