The way Gary wrote the book makes Brian seem like a person who WANTS to do something but doesn't for example when he sees his mother cheating with the "man" When he crashes hes scared, hungry, and weak, thinking about all the things we couldve done to fix his families problems. Over the course of the 42 days * I think* that he is stranded in the canadian wilderness, He discovers his primative abilities which allow him to function in that world. In other words ADAPTIVE. Towards the end when he is saved his physicaly and mentally stronger then he was when he first landed, He makes the situations better. Words that i think describe him are: strong, brave in situations, adaptive, and very smart.

a message that came to me through this book is that you have to think about wats around you. Brain i would say is a brave young man and kind of lucky to have the hatchet with him and to have had that porcupine attack him causing him to throw the hactet agaist the rock to make sparks wich = fire. with the fire brain kept off the masquitoes and cooked his food. either way you have to be smart to do what brain did. He anylazed his surrundings and found out what he needed to survive and in the other books the experince brain had makes go back to the wilderness and live there and also get him busted for beating up a kid. There are also spin offs to hatchet like (check sources). Now one thing i have to say is that brains mom is kind of worried now that brain has gone to wilderness survived and now wants to go back. i think she's a great mom. The dad i don't really know what to say except that he's one of the factors brain got to survive in the wilderness. I mean if there parents didn't get divorced then he wouldn't have been on the plane that crashed and stuff.

I love the whole Twilight series. I got into it years ago when one of my friends received the book as a present for her birthday. She loves vampires and just adored the book so I decided to read it too! It was amazing. I Love Edward Cullen!!!! <3!!!!!! I have Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse now and I am waiting for Breaking Dawn!! Can't wait ;D New moon is great. You should read it if you loved Twilight, I am positive you'll love it just as much. If you really don't want to read it now you probably won't understand some of the things that they talk about in Eclispse. So I would highly recommend that you do read it. Anna ;D

How about being honest, this is your homework and you did not read the book. It is short read it.

If I remember correctly, Brian was from a dysfunctional family. The parents were divorced and Brian was going to see his Dad when the plane crash occured.

Brian's Mom was thoughtful - she gave him the hatchet.
Brian was young - a typical kid, but he had a good head and could connect the dots. In other words, what he learned in school, he was able to apply to real life.
Don't remember anything about the Dad.

Now go read.
