2 = $13,200
3 = $16,600
4 = $20,000
5 = $23,400
For each additional person, add $3,400

The line of poverty is based on a definition developed by Mollie Orshansky of the Social Security Administration (SSA) in 1964 and revised in 1969 and 1981 by interagency committees.
