Judges usually impose multiple life sentences to show parole boards in the future the severity of the crime and how badly that person needed to be punished and removed from society.

In some cases its because you have to be sentenced on all charges against you and the crimes are so horrific you get two life sentences. It is wierd seeing how one life sentence from where I'm from is like 142yrs or something like that.

No one ever lives out more than one life sentence, this is just something to keep someone behind bars in case a smart lawyer gets him off on one of his life sentences.

its just the way the justice system goes, punishment for all crimes commtittded, and if that is = to 2 life sentences, thats what will be given...and its like a slap in the face to the criminal...or "and 1" in basket ball..

a 'life' sentence is 25 years. Don't know why they call it life.

actually the only way it is a life sentance is if there is no chance for parole..... LIFE IS ACTUALLY CONSCIDERED 25 years
