Well, I must admit that I would have you write the check for a large amount of money, although I can't quite think of a number. The however is that I wouldn't keep it all for myself. I would consider it as if I had won the lottery.....and I have thought about what I would do if I ever won the lottery.
First, I would make sure that my parents, brother, husband and in-laws had all of their bills paid off. They have all done so much for me in my life that I would HAVE to take care of them first.
Second, I would donate money (as I do now) to various organizations which deal with AIDS, poverty, children, all kinds of diseases, etc.
Third, I would either save or invest for the future. I would make sure that if I ever had children or my brother had children, they would be taken care of. But, I would be smart about it and make sure that they couldn't have any of it until they were older and it would be used for college.
Lastly, I would pay off all of my bills and make my credit better (I won't even tell you how bad it is now). I would purchase a home, make sure I had a reliable (not expensive or flashy) car to get back and forth to work (YES, I would still work....I love what I do too much to ever quit); and of course, I won't lie, I would probably go shopping and by myself a few nice things.
I know a lot of people who read this are going to think that I'm just full of crap but I'm a coal miner's daughter and I realize just how hard life can get. So, I really wouldn't be irresponsible. Plus, I've heard too many horror stories about people who have won the lottery and their lives fall apart because they blow it all on stupid things.
So, anyway, that's what I would do, but, like I said, I can't really give you an amount to make that check out for.
Oh, and by the way....I went to your homepage and read about your likes and dislikes....I wish you much luck on achieving all of your goals, especially those regarding curing diseases/viruses. I work in the medical field and would be ecstatic to see such advances in technology. So, good luck!!

Could you make it $ 20,000 please? That's how much my business loan is with interest and I've paid some of that over the months. Humane Society and MSF can use $ 1000 donation taken from that amount - and your name will be on their generous person list. I'll work on getting the $ 2000 to replace that amount plus to cover up other expenses, but at least my debt is mostly covered.
Someone said he can give me more than that amount but he wants something in return on top of paying installments and interest. I refused and we never speak again - I guess I lost it !
